Marco Maiero was born in Tricesimo (Udine) in September 1956.
After completing his secondary education, he attended the “J. Tomadini” Conservatory in Udine, where he graduated in trombone in 1981. He has since taught music in secondary schools.
In 1978, he founded the choral ensemble “Vôs de mont” through which he began presenting original compositions for which he serves as both composer and lyricist. Over the course of more than forty-five years, the choir has distinguished itself as a rare example of an "author's choir" developing a unique sound and strong identity becoming a reference point for Italian choral music.
Among his many compositions, “Daûr San Pieri” stands out, having been included into the repertoire of numerous choirs around the world and also performed by instrumental ensembles.
With “Vôs de mont,” Maiero has released nine albums, each accompanied by printed sheet music for the choral pieces:
1987 - "Anin insieme"
1992 - "Lidrîs"
1996 - "Albadis"
2001 - "Mateçs"
2004 - "L è ben vêr"
2009 - "Carezze"
2013 - "In cammino"
2018 - "Bivacchi e fuochi"
2023 - "Come un soffio"
In 2000, together with like-minded enthusiasts, he founded the brass ensemble“Brassevonde” which offers a repertoire spanning from the 16th century to the present day, in keeping with a long-standing tradition. The ensemble also performs Maiero's compositions and many of his works have been played by prestigious ensembles internationally.
In 2005, eighteen of his choral pieces were arranged for piano and featured in the album “Anime e lune” performed by pianist Paolo Chiarandini.g
Maiero frequently serves as a jury member in choral competitions and regularly conducts masterclasses on choral music both in Italy and abroad.
He also contributes articles to leading journals specialising in choral music.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and recognitions from choirs and cultural institutions.
